Fathers Day - Outing
Ou Trekpad 4x4 course in Melkbos was our Fathers Day outing.
The track is a grade 2-4 and is suitable for beginners and standard Jeep vehicles.
The day started out with grey clouds overhead, as all met at the front gate and signed the respective indeminity forms.
A short briefing was given by Craig Parsons on what recovery kit a 4x4 owner should have on hand when attending such outings. Craig also covered the importance of carrying a First Aid kit and a suitable Fire Extinguisher. All participants then checked tire pressure as we prepared to set off.
We stopped in the sand section under the Pilons to allow the newbies to experience engaging Low Range and get the feel of sand driving at safe speeds.
From there we entered the track and covered it in a orderly manner ensuring all safely made it through. The newbiews were greatful they had been given an opportunity to practice first or they all admitted they would have struggled. All those that attended had a great day with the first timers getting to grips with the amazing capability of their vehicles.
No real vehicle damage occured except for one wrangler which lost a tire crossing one of the river points.
All joined in and enjoyed the braai at the end of a successfull 4x4 day.
