Atlantis Dunes - Day Outing 18 April 2010

Wow what a day of fun in the sun in our Jeep’s
The day started out chilly as members arrived at Gate 1 from 8.00am. Tyres were quickly deflated to .8 some went down to .6. The first Group entered at 9.00am and by 9.30am all twenty one participants were in the dunes.
We all gathered for a photo shoot and a quick drivers discussion. The group was split into 3.
Theuns Van Staden led the raised Jeeps into the Dunes for a day of adrenalin dune driving.

Neil Kelsall took six of the standard vehicles and I led the rest into the dunes.
For the first timers the dunes are always exciting to drive and to experience the sand under the very soft tyres. The members were led through various obstacles to build up their confidence in the dunes.
Our group found Landrover Corner and explored all the obstacles. The members confidence quickly grew as they successfully maneuvered their vehicles through each obstacle.

The three groups then met up at the Long dune where all had fun attempting the drive up and down the steep dune. The others all gathered below and started with their picnic lunch.
After lunch the members all slowly made their way out of the dunes. All had a day of fun and excitement with no major mishaps being encountered. A big thank you to Theuns, Mark, Neil and Nico who assisted with managing the members throughout the day and safely lead the drivers through the dunes.
Enjoy the Pics.
